Olney Chamber of Commerce Hosts 43rd Annual Community Day on March 2
The Olney Chamber of Commerce will host its 43rd Annual Community Day on Sunday, March 2, bringing together nearly 100 local businesses, non-profits, county agencies, community organizations, and more. Montgomery County’s longest-running business expo also features a family expo, live performances, the Taste of Olney, and activities for all ages.
“Community Day is a celebration of everything Olney has to offer,” said Olney Chamber Executive Director Terri Hogan. “It’s also a valuable opportunity for local businesses—especially those without a storefront—to connect directly with residents.”
Community Day runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, 17301 Old Vic Boulevard. Admission and activities are free, but attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for Olney HELP and used eyeglasses for the Olney Lions Club.
For the second year, the event will be held on a Sunday afternoon rather than a weeknight. “The change was initially due to venue availability, but overwhelming feedback from last year’s attendees supported keeping the Sunday schedule,” Hogan added. “It makes it easier for families to enjoy a free and fun community experience.”
New this year: bingo and roving entertainers, including the Capital Quartet, Black Princess Parties DMV, and Mr. Kenny’s Magic. Live performances from dance and karate studios will provide entertainment in the dining hall.
Attendees can explore exhibits from schools, camps, home services, real estate, recreation, health and fitness, senior care, legal and financial services, faith-based organizations, and more. Other attractions include a moon bounce, a DJ from Everything Entertainment, games, photo booth, face painting, tattoos, crafts, and.
Exhibitors will offer individual raffles at their tables, and giveaways.
The Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department will showcase its interactive Fire Safety Trailer. This mobile safety unit teaches children and adults essential fire prevention and survival skills, including how to exit a smoke-filled environment, check doors for heat, and properly execute the "stop, drop, and roll" technique.
The Taste of Olney will provide options for those wishing to grab lunch, dinner, or a snack. Vendors confirmed at press time include Grubbing Hard, Mamma Lucia, La Table du Château, Brooke Grove Retirement Village Dining Services, the Italian Pasta Shop, Kona Ice, Carmen’s Italian Ice, Smoothie King, and Pacha Mama Juice Company. Food vendors will be in the dining hall, with food trucks stationed just outside.
“Community Day isn’t just about fun—it strengthens our local economy,” Hogan said. “By attending, you’re supporting businesses that create jobs, contribute to fundraisers, reinvest in Olney, and help preserve its unique character.”
This year’s event is chaired by Kate Dadourian, owner and director of Camp Rippling Brook and a dedicated Chamber member.
“It’s an honor to serve as the chairperson for the 43rd Olney Community Day, an event that truly brings our community together,” said Dadourian. “This day is about celebrating our local businesses, organizations, and families in a fun and engaging way. I’m excited to build on the incredible foundation set by past organizers and bring new, family-friendly experiences to make this year’s event even more special. I can’t wait to see our community come together and create lasting memories!”
The Olney Chamber thanks its Gold Sponsors: Ashton Family Dental and Orthodontics, Carlos Covarrubias / State Farm, Brooke Grove Retirement Village, MedStar Health, and Sandy Spring Bank, as well as all of our event sponsors and community partners for their generous support.
