History Happy Hour Confronting our Taboos

Join a discussion on the taboos we live with as a nation related to faith, gender, race, and identity.  Why do we avoid talking about certain subjects, and how has that shaped our history as a country? How do these taboos shape interaction between different communities?  We will explore these and other questions related to our series, Women and Islam. Laila Alawa is a Muslim feminist, writer and cultural critic who has been published at The Huffington Post, The Guardian, Patheos, andThe Islamic Monthly, and serves as the founder and editor the blog Coming of Faith. She previously worked at Princeton University conducting a study on Muslim American perceptions of belonging.$15 for members and advanced ticket purchases.  $20 at door.  Includes happy hour food and beverages
